Literary Recognition

Johan Vlok Louw’s most recent novel, Sons of Mud, was shortlisted for Book of the Year 2024 at the South African Literary Awards (SALA) by wRite Associates and was longlisted for the Sunday Times Literary Award — marking the third time Louw has been recognised by this prize, following A Gap in the Hedge (2017) and Eric the Brave (2012). Karoo Dusk (2014) was shortlisted for the University of Johannesburg Prize for Creative English Literature and later translated into Afrikaans. He is currently working on his sixth novel.

A Gap in the Hedge is a gripping literary mystery about memory, redemption, and the dark corners of the human heart.
